ADULT: Wingspan 15-20mm. An attractive moth with a buff foreground to the forewings with distinguishing features such as the dark grey kidney mark with a deep brown triangular mark between it and the leading edge and a brown cross band towards the outer edge that has several white dots inside it. CHRYSALIS: N/A. LARVA: Feeds on Ploughmans Spikenard, Common Restharrow and Sticky Groundsel as well as cultivated Marigolds. BEHAVIOUR: Attracted to light and nectar. HABITAT: Mainly coasts although occasionally seen inland. FLIGHT PERIOD: Mainly June to August. STATUS: Immigrant. More common in the south. |
